FRP Rotary Scrubber – High-Capacity Ore & Aggregate Washing Equipment

The Rotary Scrubber is designed for washing coarse raw materials with large particle sizes and high clay content — conditions where standard washing equipment may not provide sufficient cleaning.

Through continuous tumbling, lifting, and particle-on-particle scrubbing inside the rotating drum, FRP Rotary Scrubbers remove clay, mud, and surface impurities from heavily contaminated ore and aggregate feed.

When Should You Use a Rotary Scrubber?

A Rotary Scrubber is suitable when the feed contains coarse particles, surface clay, mud coatings, and a high percentage of dirty material that requires retention time and repeated tumbling to clean effectively.

  • Rotary Scrubber – For coarse materials, high clay content, and high-capacity washing duties.
  • Log Washer – For tough, sticky plastic clay that requires stronger shearing and scrubbing.
  • Spiral Washer – For fine sand fractions that require washing, classification, and dewatering.

FRP Rotary Scrubbers can handle feed sizes up to 300 mm and single-machine capacities up to 300 t/h, depending on material characteristics and washing requirements.

Working Principle of the Rotary Scrubber

The Rotary Scrubber consists of a rotating cylindrical drum lined with wear-resistant plates and equipped with internal lifters.

Raw material and water enter from the feed end. As the drum rotates, the material is lifted, dropped, rolled, and scrubbed against other particles, loosening clay and surface impurities.

Mud and fine particles are washed out with the water flow, while cleaned material moves toward the discharge end for screening or further processing.

Drum length, inclination angle, liner type, spray system, and trommel screen configuration can be selected according to the material condition and process target.

Key Advantages of FRP Rotary Scrubbers

  • Handles coarse, dirty feed – Suitable for materials with large particles, mud coatings, and high clay content.
  • High-capacity washing – Large drum volume provides sufficient retention time for continuous washing operations.
  • Effective clay removal – Repeated tumbling and particle-on-particle friction help remove clay from ore and aggregate surfaces.
  • Wear-resistant design – Heavy-duty shell and replaceable liners support operation in abrasive applications.
  • Flexible process integration – Can work with trommel screens, Log Washers, Spiral Washers, and Dewatering Screens in complete washing circuits.

Process Layout and Trommel Screen Integration

A Rotary Scrubber is commonly used as the first washing stage before crushing, screening, or beneficiation. Its role is to remove surface clay, loosen mud, and prepare the material for downstream processing.

For many projects, the discharge end can be equipped with a trommel screen extension to combine washing and rough sizing in one unit.

  • Single or double-layer screen options for different sizing requirements.
  • Screen media options including perforated steel plate, woven steel mesh, stainless-steel mesh, and polyurethane panels.
  • Modular screen panels for easier replacement and maintenance.

This configuration helps remove residual mud while separating material sizes for downstream crushing, screening, or gravity separation.

FAQ — Rotary Scrubber for Ore & Aggregate Washing

Can A Rotary Scrubber Be Integrated With A Screening System?
Yes. FRP Rotary Scrubbers can be equipped with a trommel screen extension at the discharge end for single or double-layer sizing, allowing washing and classification to be completed in one machine.
What Information Is Needed To Size A Rotary Scrubber?
Please provide feed top size, target throughput, clay type and content, moisture condition, bulk density, and whether trommel screening is required. Washing tests can also be arranged when material behavior is uncertain.
What Wear Materials Are Used For The Drum Lining?
Common lining options include high manganese steel, polyurethane liners, and rubber liners. The final selection depends on material abrasiveness, impact level, and operating conditions.
